Why Another BDSM Site?
A lot of people wonder why in the world I would put in the time and effort to start another BDSM website. It is a legitimate question given the number and diversity of BDSM oriented web sites already up and operating on the net. Why would I want to jump into such a competitive market.
This question appears to be relatively simple on the surface, but it become increasingly complex as I examine my reasoning and motivations. There are several that all contributed to the decision, some more than others. It is worth a bit of explanation as an effort to make it clear what drives this site.
The Primary Reason
At the top of my list is that I wanted to do this. Like peeling an onion, there are also various layers to this primary reasoning. The major driver for wanting to create this site is my submissive/baby girl. We met on a different BDSM site that is no longer operating. We both missed the opportunities that website offered and we wanted to recreate, at least in part, those aspects that we most enjoyed. So one of the primary drives to create this site is to please my submissive/baby girl which is always a motivator in anything I do.
While the primary reason alone is enough to motivate me to this effort, there are other reasons that factor into the decision. Alone, they might not have been enough to push me to action. Together, with the primary motivator, they make the decision even more compelling. Hence, the birth of Dante’s Pit becomes a reality.
Secondary Reasons
I have visited and participated on many of the other existing BDSM websites for many years. I come and go, mainly because none of them offer the activities and opportunities that engage me enough to keep me as a regular visitor. There is a particular mix of features I want to see on a regular basis in one place, and, more importantly, an overall tone and feel to the website that I expect.
In particular, I want to have a comfortable, relaxed, and safe place to spend time with my baby girl. I want a place to chat, where we can meet others with similar interests, without a the pressure of constant sales pitches and having to pay subscription fees to get “Additional Features.”
I wanted to create and atmosphere that minimizes the “meat market” feel of some of the most active BDSM sites. A smaller site, that is carefully moderated and managed to eliminate professional trolls is one goal. On some sites I have visited, the ever present and ongoing notifications from individuals who have obviously never bothered to read a profile is an irritation. I wanted to create a site where this could be minimized.
One of the features I missed most was a place to share my prose and poetry without it getting lost in an overwhelming number of other posts. Part of this motivation is to encourage and support other erotic and fetish writers to share as well in a place where they feel comfortable and at ease.
Lastly, I intend to operate this website that is as free of advertising, rules, and overbearing requirements as possible. I have no intention of trying to monetize this website which means no advertising, click farms, or link pages. In short, I will rule this website just like I would my home. Everyone is welcome until you make yourself unwelcome in my estimation. My rules are simple and straightforward.
My Website, My Rules, and My Reasons
That, in short is why I have chosen to support, open, and manage this website. It may never grow beyond a few intrepid explorers who happen upon us and enjoy the same sorts of things. It may become popular and necessitate some adjustments to handle more people, more traffic, and more posts. We will cross those bridges as they come.
For now, Dante’s Pit is what it is, a small BDSM oriented community designed to allow friendships to be created, ideas and knowledge to be shared, and where we can all have fun in a relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere.
